Minutes of LISA Meetings

October 11, 2000

Minutes of the Fall 2000 LISA meeting, held at International House, University of Denver, October 11th

Meeting was called to order by President Paul Sharpe.  Eight attendees briefly introduced themselves.  No minutes were collected from the previous meeting.  Paul reported that at the last meeting the decision was made to grant alumni membership in the organization and the bylaws were amended as such.

The group discussed officially changing the name to the Library and Information Student Association, to more closely resemble the official program name.  Motion was made and passed.

dr. joanne twining reported that the program had 113 accepted students, and 76 currently enrolled students.

The E-Board requested a copy of ALA accreditation documents from dr. joanne twining.

Vice-President, Lisa Cole, spoke about the Peer Resource Board.  Tanis Doyle agreed to be on the committee, and Lisa made a request for another volunteer.

Bruce Raymond spoke about the status of the LISA web page, hoping to define its role and avoid overlap with the program website.  The discussion included the LISA listserv and possibly making it a forum for open questions such as a virtual reference service.  Bruce agreed to head a committee to look into the possibilities.

The LISA mission was read for the group.

Student orientation was mentioned and it was agreed that LISA should have a presence each year.

Nicolle Steffan (former treasurer) discussed the previous e-board’s ideas for a fundraiser dinner.  The group decided not to go ahead with plans at the current time.

Meeting was adjourned.
