Minutes of LISA Meetings

June 23, 2002

LISA Meeting held in Observatory Park in Denver, CO

Attending the meeting: Lisa Cole, Amy Greenland, Noreen Schilling and Shannon O’Grady

Lisa Cole called the meeting to order.

Shannon will revise the minutes from the Feb. 7, 2002 meeting so that they can be posted on the LISA website.

Noreen will write up the minutes from the last meeting on April 4, 2002 so that they can be posted to the LISA website. (Shannon was not able to attend this meeting).

The treasurer Alyssa Ericksen was not at this meeting to give a report.

Roger Greer made a monetary donation to LISA and it is unclear if he received a letter of thanks from LISA. Shannon will ask Alyssa and verify if this was done. If not, she will get

Mr. Greer’s address and take care of this.

Amy gave an update on the Internet committee.

Amy’s Capstone project involves comparing the DU LISA site with other schools’. Her project (being completed jointly with two other students) will look at, among other factors, if student sites have a similar template to the parent organization site. The project will explore what information should be on the LIS site and what should be on the LISA site.

This research may be beneficial to the program accreditation.

LISA elections will be in August. To date, there have been no nominations. In an effort to remedy this, Noreen will send out an email to encourage people to run and faculty and alumni will be asked to encourage students.

Students to work on the Internet committee will need to be recruited as well.

The new secretary will be assigned the duty of list administrator for the LISA-L. Shannon will write up the “how to” information.

CAL conference—Sylvia Hal-Ellis will be working with the LISA to form a committee to determine LISA’s participation in this conference. Noreen will email Sylvia to establish a meeting date. Poster sessions are a presentation type to consider. Amy may be doing a poster session on her Capstone project.

Interview skills for LIS students—Camilla Allaire has held seminars for students in the past. This may be something to consider for next year. Camilla would be a good person to have involved with the program.

Lisa Cole adjourned the meeting.

LISA picnic to follow.
