In writing and editing materials for publication, DU relies primarily upon The Associated Press Stylebook. The AP Stylebook is the preferred editing reference for materials directed at general audiences.
The DU Stylebook supplements AP by offering guidance on a variety of University-specific terms, programs and usages. On some issues, in keeping with an academic culture, it differs from AP.
For questions not covered by either AP or the DU Stylebook, please refer to the 14th edition of The Chicago Manual of Style.
