Philanthropy Fair nets $4000 for scholarship fund
Annual event raises money for women’s education
DENVER—On Saturday, Aug. 4, The Women’s College of the University of Denver hosted its third annual Global Philanthropy Fair. The event raised more than $4000 for The Women’s College scholarship fund while highlighting worldwide nonprofit women's organizations.
Twenty-four non-profit organizations sold cultural items, offered volunteer opportunities, and created general awareness of their missions benefiting women and children. Participating organizations included Single Mothers of Color, Warren Village, Habitat for Humanity Women’s Build, Bead for Life, Run for Congo Women, The Women’s Foundation, The Gathering Place, and Women’s Bean Project.
Sixty donors contributed more than $6000 worth of donated items for the silent auction, which raised money for the school’s scholarship fund.
Attendees enjoyed an evening of friends, food, entertainment, and children's activities, and special entertainment from Professor Carol Zak-Dance’s “Women, Culture, and Communication” class.
