Daniels College of Business students to vie for innovation title

A team of graduate students from the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business has been named one of ten finalists in the 2007 Innovation Challenge, the largest case competition in the world.  Often referred to as the “world championship” of MBA innovation, the team will compete in the final round of competition Nov. 15-17 at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. 

Daniels’ TeamX, made up of Tom Briscoe, Joanne Brownhill, Jamie Butcher, Don Cassidy, and Peter Keilman, beat out 277 teams from MIT, Yale, Northwestern, UCLA, among other schools, to secure a spot on the final round roster.   Their team includes experienced technical and business professionals from industries as diverse as semiconductors, paper, biotech, venture capital, knowledge management, and financial investment.

For the final competition, the teams will prepare plans for American Express and Hilton and will present their ideas in 15-minute live presentations to judges.  The winning team will receive $20,000 in cash.  The second place team will receive $7,500 and the third place team will share $2,500.

Other finalists include a team from IIM in Indore, India, two teams from the Indian School of Business, the London Business School, UK; The University of California at Berkeley (Haas), two teams from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia and two teams from Kenan-Flager at the University of North Carolina.
