Financial Literacy
CURRENT EVENTS: The current credit crisis has changed the financial environment. While this is a phenomenon with widespread impact, many things remained unchanged (including the cost of debt, the importance of budgeting, and proper financial decision making). If anything, these are now more important than they ever were. However, understanding the credit crisis is important. Play this video to learn more about the current state of affairs.

Four basic financial concepts (budgeting/spending, debt/loans, saving and investing for retirement, and the cost of credit cards) are essential to every person’s life. We hope that this website will help the DU community to:
- Build knowledge of the fundamental financial concepts for students of all majors
- Increase students’ understanding of personal budgets and spending plans,
- Improve students’ skills of managing savings accounts and other short-term and long-term investments such as Treasury Bills and life insurance; and
- Provide students a better understanding of the hidden cost of debt.
