Club Cycling provides DU's riders of all abilities and ages opportunities to improve their skills and have fun year round! The club provides clinics, coaching, racing, dry-land training and group riding opportunities. The road racing season spans from March to May and includes racing at schools from Colorado,Utah, New Mexico, and Wyoming in Division II of the Rocky Mountain Collegiate Cycling Conference, which is one of the most competitive in the nation.
Aside from the opportunity to compete and ride recreationally, membership in the Club Cycling Team includes a team jersey and a membership card which entitles members to discounts at local restaurants and a local bike shop! The club consists of both men and women as undergraduate/graduate students, law students, and faculty. In their first year since reorganizing, the Club Cycling Team has appeared in the DU Magazine, The Source, and the Clarion publications. The team was featured on the Web site of Tom Danielson (of the Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team).
The first competitive season of the club exceeded all expecations. The team ended the regular season second in the conference with 5 racers on the podium for season points. The team then sent 6 guys and 1 woman to nationals where DU ended in 9th (of 32 teams) with just half of a team. In addition DU took 3rd and 5th in the men's road race. The team will undoubtedly come out strong in the 2007 season!
