EXECUTIVE BOARD
PRINCIPAL MEMBERS (5) MEETINGS: Weekly
President (Chair): Nicholas A. Sauer
Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
Marshal
MISSION
The Executive Board is made up of the top five officers: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Marshal. This committee meets once a week to schedule the agenda for the chapter meeting. The board needs to evaluate the goals and programs of the chapter and develop new ones. The Executive Board should also review all committee reports and motions that are to be made at the meeting.
STANDARDS BOARD
Chaplain (Chair): Alan Frosh
Appointed brothers (5)
MISSION
The Standards Board is one of the most important parts of a successful chapter. It should be composed of six members, five of which are appointed. The board’s job is to interpret and enforce the by-laws and code of conduct of the chapter. The Vice President should oversee the board, making sure that they meet and uphold the by-laws of the fraternity. However, he should not be a voting member.
ACTIVITIES
Chair: Jordan Curzon
MISSION
The Activities Committee should schedule and arrange special events for the brothers. Such events might be a camping trip or a trip to a local sporting event. The duties of the committee include planning the event, deciding on transportation needs, consulting the Risk Management officer about special insurance considerations, and how the event would be paid for. The primary purpose of this committee is to collaborate their efforts with many similar areas of the fraternity in order to co-plan and organize events. This committee should work closely with the Social and L.E.A.D. Committees.
L.E.A.D.
L.E.A.D. Coordinator (Chair): Josh Carson
MISSION
The L.E.A.D. Committee is in charge of preserving the fraternity and its members as well as keeping members active in the fraternity throughout their undergraduate career. This committee’s primary purpose is to make sure that L.E.A.D. is running efficiently and effectively through providing accurate and timely resources for brothers to complete their respective stages. At the beginning of every quarter this committee is to set up a “Laptop Session” where every brother can sign into the L.E.A.D. web site to compute the events they have completed. Also, through offering additional opportunities, their goal is to further develop students and aid them in acquiring the skills needed to succeed as citizens throughout their lives. This committee should work closely with the Activities Committee.
SOCIAL
Social Special Events (Chair): Josh Stein
MISSION
The Social Committee plans the social calendar and is in charge of planning each event. The social chairman should run and guide the committee, but he should not do all of the work. It is important that all members on this committee are aware of the guidelines set forth in the Risk Management and FIPG. This committee must work closely with the Activities Committee.
HOUSE MAINTENANCE
House Manager (Chair): Spencer LaFasto
MISSION
The House Maintenance Committee is in charge of the physical structure and the bi-monthly cleaning of it. It is not the committee member’s jobs to keep the house clean, but to make sure it gets done by putting an effective program in place. Within the committee, there can be a project manager, who would be in charge of different special projects such as painting the basement or redesigning a room. Working closely with the Risk Management officer, this committee should make sure that the building passes all necessary inspections through monthly fire drills, and is aware of any building or fire hazards that exist, and work towards fixing them. This committee is also in charge of assigning rooms and parking spots in the spring quarter for the academic year. The alumnus brother is not required to attend every meeting; however, he is expected to be kept up to date with the progress of this committee.
ALUMNI RELATIONS
Alumni Officer (Chair): Collin Krum
MISSION
The Alumni Relations Committee produces monthly alumni newsletters and coordinates alumni events. The committee works with the alumni all year. It also constantly updates alumni mailing lists, keeping track of who visits the chapter through a guest visitor’s book, and sends thank you notes.
FINANCIAL REVIEW BOARD
Treasurer (Chair): Jason Hornberger
MISSION
This committee helps the Treasurer formulate budgets. The committee should meet at least once a month to assess the overall financial condition of the chapter and make its recommendations accordingly. This committee is in charge of working with the University to set rent prices in the spring quarter for the academic year. The members of this committee should aid the Treasurer in setting quarterly budgets for all committees. The committee should also prepare a report about outstanding dues, budget status, and committee balances for the Financial Supervisor and Alumni Corporation and present this information to the chapter once a month.
NEW MEMBER EDUCATION
Marshal (Chair): Cash Parker
MISSION
This committee plans and administers the new member education program. The committee’s responsibility is to insure that all chapter activities involving the new members are well planned and that there is absolutely no hazing or inappropriate activities. The committee should work on scheduling guest speakers and evaluating the scholarship of each new member as well as their progress in the education program. The committee should also aid the new member class in planning an event for the whole fraternity during their education process. This committee must work closely with the Recruitment Committee.
RECRUITMENT
Recruitment Officer (Chair): Mark Ballegeer
MISSION
The Recruitment Committee works to formulate and implement the recruitment program for the chapter. The committee does not do all of the work of recruiting new members, only the planning. Some duties of this committee include scheduling of recruitment events, arranging transportation, and assigning brothers as recruitment guests (for personalized recruitment efforts). This committee must work closely with the New Member Education Committee.
SCHOLARSHIP
Librarian (Chair): Tom LeClair
MISSION
The Scholarship Committee is in charge of the scholarship program. The members of this committee need to coordinate the program and insure that all initiated and new members are benefiting from it. The committee is responsible for maintaining adequate study/computer facilities, and the chapter library. The committee is responsible for implementing and awarding scholarships and awards for superior academic achievement through the Scholarship Dinner, which is to be held in the winter quarter. They are also responsible for scheduling guest speakers, arranging tutors, and monitoring scholastic achievement. The Faculty Academic Advisor and the Marshal should be active on this committee.
BY-LAWS
Chaplain (Chair): Alan Frosh
MISSION
This committee keeps the chapter by-laws up-to-date. As changes are made to the by-laws, this committee ensures that the changes are appropriately written and inserted in the proper place in the by-laws. In addition, this committee reviews the by-laws quarterly to ensure no by-laws contradict local, state, or federal law or contradict the Fraternity’s National By-laws. The committee is also responsible for updating by-laws that are out of date. Upon finding antiquated by-laws, the committee brings these before the chapter for amendment or removal.
RITUAL
Chaplain (Chair): Alan Frosh
MISSION
The Ritual Committee is chaired by the Chaplain, with the President, Marshal, and the First and Second guards serving on the committee. A chapter can never be too prepared for our Ritual. The committee should schedule at least two complete rehearsals/practices prior to the Ritual, so that the entire chapter is properly prepared. Quarterly section rehearsals are suggested as well. This committee is also responsible for insuring that monthly Ritual Chapter Meetings are held.
ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
MEMBERS (6)
President (Chair)
Vice President
Secretary/Treasurer
Financial Advisor
Alumni Advisor
Regional Counselor
MISSION
The purpose of the Gamma Lambda Alumni Corporation is to act as an intermediary between the Chapter and the University of Denver in matters associated with the Chapter's physical plant (exterior, interior, mechanics, and furnishings); to plan, provide and raise funds for the financial well being and future short- and long-term capital improvement needs of the Chapter; and to promote the brotherhood and general welfare of the undergraduate and alumnus brothers of the Gamma Lambda Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity.
AD HOC COMMITTEES
These committees are formed a few months before an event, and then are dissolved soon after the event is finished. The Ad Hoc Committees should file the same reports that the others do, and these should go into the Vice President’s notebook.
Some common Ad Hoc Committees include, but are not limited to:
