Introducing IRBNet NEW ELECTRONIC PROTOCOL MANAGEMENT FOR IACUC, IBC, and IRB PROTOCOLS

The University of Denver Administration, in conjunction with the University's Faculty and Research Compliance Committees, is pleased to announce that we will be replacing our current electronic protocol management system, eProtocol, with the industry leading IRBNet suite of tools.  Like with eProtocol, this system will be used to manage all submissions to the IRB, IACUC, and IBC, and will facilitate electronic protocol management, on-line submissions and many other important research oversight features to the University of Denver research community.  The University's Administration has recognized the need to better streamline protocol submission and review processes and leverage today's best technologies throughout the research lifecycle.  In comparison to eProtocol, adoption of IRBNet now brings the University community a robust set of electronic tools that will include electronic document management, web-based protocol sharing and collaboration, integrated training and credential management, a centralized library for all forms, templates, and guidance documents, and important audit capabilities including electronic revision histories, electronic signatures and event tracking.

IRBNet has been chosen not only for the important capabilities that it provides, but also because IRBNet is secure, web-based, and extremely intuitive and easy to use.  You may access IRBNet from virtually any computer using a web browser by visiting www.irbnet.org.

The Research Compliance Office is working with each Department to ensure sufficient training for researchers across Morgridge.

As of May 1, should now be able to self-register at www.IRBNet.org as part of the University of Denver community. The last day to submit new protocols to the eProtocol system will be May 28, 2013.Submission of protocols through the new system will begin May 29, 2013.Throughout the month we will be adding new forms and guidance materials so that you may begin using these exciting new tools to prepare and submit protocols as soon as the switch takes place.Beginning July 1, 2013, we will no longer be able to access protocols (including revisions and renewals)  in the eProtocol system, meaning all protocols that have not been approved by this date will be lost, and will need to be resubmitted through IRBNet.

Once again, the University of Denver is pleased to introduce this new system to the University community.  For additional information please contact Emily Caldes at 303-871-4052, or the IRB Administrator at IRBAdmin@du.edu, for assistance with any questions you may have as we move forward with this important initiative.
