The Harry Gollob Award

The Harry Gollob Award is an award given by the department to a current graduate student for the best first author publication describing work done at the University of Denver and either published or in press in the past 2 years. The award is named after a former faculty member and chair of the department, Harry Gollob, who died suddenly on Thanksgiving, 1996. As a statistician, Harry played a huge role in almost every grad student's training here. So, the department honors his memory by having this award for graduate students.

The call for submissions for the Harry Gollob award is made each spring by Jan Keenan, the chair of the Graduate Affairs Committee. The requirements are that:

  • The student must be the first author
  • Only current graduate students can submit
  • The article must cover work done at DU
  • The article must be published or in press during the past 2 years
  • Resubmissions are encouraged

Members of the department's Graduate Affairs Committee read all the papers submitted and choose the winner. The winner receives an engraved plaque and their name is added to the plaque displayed on the first floor of the department.

Please contact Jan Keenan (jkeenan@du.edu) if you have any questions.
