Graduate Student Financial Support

There are four basic types of graduate student support: (a) Research Assistantships; (b) Teaching Assistantships; (c) Outside Placements in local clinical and research settings; and (d) Individual Research Fellowships, awarded from outside agencies such as NIMH, NIH, NSF, APA (Minority Fellowships, in particular), as well as a variety of other agencies that may be pertinent to a particular trainee's interests.  The department provides full tuition waivers for the 120 hours required for the Ph.D. and stipend support for at least four years. Additional support may be available during the summer months for teaching or research assistanships. In addition to tuition and stipend support, the Department makes available, on a competitive basis, funds for both research and travel to professional meetings.
