Psychology BA Requirements University of Denver
Download a PDF version of this checklist
- The BA in Psychology requires all University BA degree requirements (see Bulletin)
- MATC 1200 is recommended for students with appropriate background, but is not required
- A minimum of 40 hours of Psychology courses
- If you entered prior to Fall 2010 and used SOCS 1710 or PSYC1001 to satisfy part of the SOCS requirement, those hours satisfy the Foundations category but do not count towards the 40 required hours
- Max of 60 credit hours with a PSYC prefix; PSYC hours over 60 do not count toward any requirements
- Exception: Junior/Senior Honors hours count towards the min 40 hours but do not count against the 60 hr max
- Because SOCS 1710 does not have a PSYC prefix, it does not count against the 60 hour maximum
- At least 25 PSYC upper division hours (2000 and above)
- Minimum GPA of 2.0 overall AND in the major
- For a PSYC course to count towards a requirement and minimum hours, you must earn a C- or above
However, even PSYC courses with D grades count against the 60 hour maximum
- STAT 1300 or BIOL 2090 satisfy the Introductory Statistics category but the hours do not count towards the major
