Bernard Spilka Undergraduate Scholarship in Psychology

The Bernard Spilka Undergraduate Scholarship is awarded to the Junior or Senior most likely to make a significant contribution to the field of Psychology. This scholarship is named for Professor Bernard Spilka who retired from the University of Denver in 1997 after 40 years of devotion to the field of Psychology. In particular, Professor Spilka was dedicated to facilitating undergraduate teaching and research and for encouraging the advancement of all students, especially women and ethnic minorities.

Eligible students are Psychology majors, will receive need or merit-based financial aid next year, have a 3.0 or above cumulative GPA, and have 75 or more hours of university credit by the end of Winter Quarter. To apply for the award, please complete the application form and provide the requested information, then put in Dr. Danny McIntosh's mailbox in the lobby of Frontier Hall NO LATER THAN APRIL 15TH.

Note that receipt of funds from this award is contingent on approval by the Office of Financial Aid, and the funds replace other need or merit-based aid provided by the University of Denver. The winner of this award is announced at the Psychology and the University Award assemblies. The Scholarship recipient is expected to attend the annual donor-recipient award dinner organized by the University of Denver Office of Institutional Advancement. The monetary part of the scholarship award is disbursed during the subsequent academic year, beginning in Fall Quarter.
