The curriculum is supplemented by special sessions and two field trips designed to give students an insider's view of the workings of the world of publishing.

• Tour of Fulcrum Publishing, Inc., an exciting trade publisher with production facilities in Golden, Colorado.
• Lecture and Tour of Frederic Printing Company, a state-of-the art facility with the largest sheet fed and half-web printing company in Colorado. The morning will be led by Chris Greene, President, Frederic Printing, Aurora, CO and Chad Hamilton, Sales Associate, CGX Publishing Solutions, Publishing Institute Graduate.
• Overview of Magazine Publishing. Daniel Brogan, editor and publisher, 5280 Magazine.
• Special Sessions on Career Development. During the last week there will be special sessions on resumes, interviewing techniques, making connections. Each student will have an opportunity for a one-on-one mock interview with a seasoned publisher. On the following day, publishers from Colorado and other locales from around the country will hold informational and job-specific interviews.
