The Enhancement Program
The Mind's Eye Enhancement Program is an after-school program designed to provide students with an opportunity to explore a passion or discover a new interest. Ricks Center faculty and off-campus individuals offer classes in art, music, science, physical activity, and language. Classes offered in the past have included chess, drama, ballet, theater, French, art, basketball, fencing, story telling and Red Cross Babysitting. There are five sessions of Enhancements; a detailed schedule of classes, including cost, is provided before each session. Classes are offered each day of the week. Younger students have classes in the early afternoon. Students are dismissed from and returned to Kids Club if they participate in an Enhancement.
Students often participate in before and after school clubs. These include MathCounts, a class designed to support those students interested in the magic of math. They then compete in the spring in a middle school math competition on the University campus.
Students have also participated in Lego Robotics clubs at Ricks Center. These students build and program Lego robots to accomplish a specific set of tasks, and then compete against other clubs.
Upper Primary and Upper School students have the opportunity to participate in Student Council. Student Council coordinates community service events, all-school spirit week, and Upper School functions such as socials and movie nights.
