Critical Incident Management Plan

The Critical Incident Management Plan (CIMP) is a board approved, documented plan on how the University of Denver will respond to an incident that may impact the University in the following manner:

  • Life safety exposure
  • Property loss or disruption impact
  • Financial disruption or impact
  • Reputation impact

The Plan is described in the Policy, and is divided into two parts with sub-parts as noted:

Planning

    • Description of the institutional plan and responsibilities of identified University representatives in pre-planning and developing departmental business continuity plans within their areas in order to best respond to incident,
  • Prevention activities conducted by various departments
  • Response activities including calling up of the institutional “Critical Incident Response Team by Campus Safety,
  • Resumption of critical departmental processes and activities as outlined in departmental business continuity plans and,
  • Restoration of facilities and processes through full recovery  

Response Strategies

  • Response strategies are designed to assist all University related persons in responding to thirteen types of perils or hazards.  Please note that by no means are these implicit responses, but observations as to how one might respond. Each incident occurs in varying degrees and with varying elements and as such, there is no boilerplate response.
  • Protocol suggested in these response strategies is intended to be consistent whether an incident occurs on-site or off-site but involves the University.
