Critical Incident Notification System (CINS) Registration Instructions

 

The University can send voice or text messages to students, faculty and staff in the event of an urgent situation.

Important Information


The system will call every contact number you provide and leave a voicemail if the call is unanswered. Text messages are optional and sent to only one number. The owner assumes any costs associated with receiving text messages.

In order to receive a text message or voice mail alert, you must provide contact information.

Provide CINS Numbers

  • You may designate one number to receive text messages.
  • If you have elected to receive a text message, you will receive a text message from the CINS vendor, confirming that you wish to opt in to receive future emergency text messages.
  • You will be responsible for any costs associated with your text messages.
  • Remember this is how to get ahold of YOU in an emergency.

Sign Up

  1. Provide personal contact numbers for landlines and cell phones.

    • Log onto https://webcentral.du.edu/ and select the MyWeb tab.

    • Choose Personal Information and select Notification Preferences.

    • Enter your phone numbers to which you wish to receive text messages and voice communication.

  2. Respond to the confirmation message sent to your phone.

  3. The system will be tested three times a year.

The University of Denver will use your contact information for official University of Denver communications only, including, but not limited to, emergencies, campus closures, building closures or class cancellations, and your contact information will be subject to the University of Denver's Privacy Policy.

Only currently enrolled students and current employees will receive notifications from CINS.

The University of Denver does not guarantee the successful delivery of any message to any individual recipient, nor does receipt of any message guarantee life safety in the event of an emergency. The CINS will be tested at least three times a year.

Remember, DU policy requires community members to read their @du.edu email. Please make sure you check this account regularly or forward your email to one you check.
