The Critical Incident Management Plan is DU’s documented, institutional response to crisis management supported by the board-approved policy, 2.50.040.  The plan provides the framework and authority for pre-incident planning and preparation plus the response for managing critical incidents that may occur as a result of life safety, reputation, financial, property, or operations risk due to a variety of perils or hazards.  The pre-incident management responsibility resides with the Core Life Safety Committee while the response mechanism is managed by the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT).

Policy and Plan

The board approved policy details the broad framework for the Core Life Safety Committee and the Critical Incident Response Team.  These two groups manage the plan from an institutional standpoint, and the members of these groups hold day-to-day responsibility for institutional responsibilities such as security, safety, legal, insurance and loss prevention, facilities, technology and communications efforts.

The Plan consists of:

  • Pre-Incident Planning
  • Response
  • Resumption
  • Restoration
  • Incident Strategies
