Critical Incident Notification System (CINS) Information

The Critical Incident Notification System is designed to send YOU time-sensitive emergency messages in the form or e-mail, voice mail and text messages.

In order to receive a text message or voice mail alert, you must provide contact information.

Provide CINS Numbers

  1. You may identify a wireless device such as a cell phone on which you can receive up to 1 text message.
  2. If you have elected to receive a text message, you will receive a text message from the urgent notification system (CINS), confirming that you wish to opt in to receive future emergency text messages.
  3. You will be responsible for any costs associated with your text messages.
  4. If you have a wired 'land-line' on which you wish to receive a voice notification, tell us that and identify it as land-line. (Text messages are not sent to land lines.)
  5. Provide only your own cell and land-line numbers. You may not enter in phone numbers for parents, siblings, spouse or any person other than yourself unless you live with your parents while attending school.

While participation in the text and voice messaging notification is optional, enrolling is strongly encouraged.

Providing Emergency Contact Information
The Critical Incident Notification System (CINS) is designed to notify you and only you in the event of an urgent situation.

Emergency Contacts are contacts such as parents, relatives and/or friends, who should be notified if you are injured or ill and you cannot call them.

To provide or update your contact information select View Emergency Contacts on MyWeb. While you are on the Personal Information link, please make sure your addresses are up to date. Select Update Addresses and Phones. Click the word HELP on the Update Address page for additional information on updating your address. If you live in DU residence facilities, your campus address and telephone number is automatically updated.

Critical Incident Notification System Disclaimer
The University of Denver will use your contact information for official University of Denver communications only, including, but not limited to, emergencies, campus closures, building closures or class cancellations, and your contact information will be subject to the University of Denver’s Privacy Policy, http://www.du.edu/privacy/.

Only currently enrolled students and current employees will receive notifications from CINS.

The University of Denver does not guarantee the successful delivery of any message to any individual recipient, nor does receipt of any message guarantee life safety in the event of an emergency.

The CINS will be tested at least three times a year.
