Overseas CoverageWhen traveling with students it is strongly recommended that the group leader provide a copy of an “Emergency Travel Plan” to Campus Safety and Risk Management for review prior to leaving and for emergencies in event of an incident while travel is in progress. Emergency Travel Plan Guidelines for Domestic and International Travel (.pdf) If traveling overseas, be sure to locate the local embassy in each city or country and notify them upon your arrival or ahead of time. They will be your greatest resource in event of emergency. Be sure the participants maintain copies of their passports in a secure location at home in event it is lost or stolen. Refer to www.state.gov/travel for the latest information from the US Department of State. Embassy locations and country updates will also be listed at this site. Review their crisis recommendations at the State Department web site as well, and follow guidelines as to behavior, dress, and customs while in foreign countries. Check with the DU Office of Internationalization for additional recommendations. The DU Policies for faculty-led program is out of office of Internationalization.
