The Jr. Pioneers Hockey Spring Development Program offers a competitive, off-season development environment for players to prepare for the following season. Players will develop hockey skills, game strategy, team systems knowledge and athletic training.
The Spring Development Program is open to players of all ages and from any regular-season hockey association. The 2016 program will include teams at the 2000 through 2007 birth years, as well as U8 teams. Each team will have a maximum of 24 players, though the maximum of 24 players per team may consist of practice and game players. Each team will have a maximum of 12 forwards, eight defensemen and four goaltenders. There will be a Major team and a Minor team at every level. U8 teams will not have a maximum number of players.
Teams will have 25 full-ice touches, which includes practices and games. Depending on the week, the schedule will include approximately two practices during the week and one game on the weekend (generally Sundays). There may be some travel to the other local rinks for games.
