The Jr. Pioneers Hockey Spring Elite program offers a competitive, off-season development environment for players to elevate their level of play in preparation for the following season. Players selected will develop hockey skills, game strategy, team systems knowledge and athletic training.
Spring Elite hockey is open to players of all ages and from any hockey association.
The 201 Spring Elite program will have teams at the 2000 through 2007 birth years, as well as a U8 travel and development teams. Each team will have a maximum of 24 players—17 on the tournament roster and seven on the practice roster. Each team will have a maximum of 12 forwards, eight defensemen and four goaltenders. There will be a Major team and a Minor team at the U10 and U12 levels and only a Major team at the U14 and U16 levels. The Major teams will travel to the tournament and the Minor teams may have an opportunity to travel as well, but is not a certainty. There will also be U8 development teams. U8 teams will not have a maximum number of players and will not travel.
Tryout dates for 2016 will be posted in February.
Teams will have 20 full-ice touches, and each practice will last at least one hour.
The 2016 tournament will be announced in February.
*Tournament fees are estimated at $300 per player (for players selected to travel teams) and cover the tournament fee and coaches' travel fees.
