Learn to Skate

The learn to skate program provides year-round skating instruction for participants ages 3 years to adult.

Levels Offered

Beginner levels

  • Snowplow Sam 1-3
  • Basic 1

Intermediate levels

  • Learn Hockey Skating 1-2
  • Jr. Pioneers Hockey Pre-Team
  • Basic 2-8

Advanced levels

Adult Learn to Skate

The adult learn to skate program is for adults who have never skated or those wanting to improve their current skills. Learn more on the adult learn to skate website.


The learn to skate program follows the basic skills program sponsored by U.S. Figure Skating.

Learn to skate also includes classes for Special Olympians.

Series 2: October 19 - December 18
Series 3: January 6 - March 1
Series 4: March 10 - May 3
Series 5: May 5 - June 28

Our eight-week series include classes on Mondays, Wednesdays or Saturdays.

Cost

$115*/8-week series*

The learn to skate registration fee includes:

  • annual membership with U.S. Figure Skating
  • free skate rental
  • free on-campus parking
  • eight free public skate sessions

*DU affiliates and Coors Fitness Center members receive a 10 percent discount on learn to skate. Please call 303-871-3820 to verify your eligibility for this discount and request the online coupon code.

Age requirements

3 years and older

Instructor to participant ratio

1:6 - 1:12, depending on level

Register

To register for learn to skate classes, call 303-871-3820, stop by the Joy Burns Arena front desk or register online. Full payment is due at the time of registration.

Please note: Registrations will not be accepted on the first day of a series.

If you’re interested in a class that has reached the maximum enrollment, please call 303-871-3820 to be added to the waitlist.
