"I received my Ph.D. in Religious Studies on June 4, 2003 from the University of Toronto. I was nominated by the Centre for the Study of Religion for the Governor-General's Gold Medal. This means the Centre deemed my dissertation the best in the Centre for 2002-2003."

"In addition to serving as pastor of this small urban American Baptist Congregation, I serve as Coordinator of "Bridges to Faith." BTF is a joint project of the Inter-Church Council and the Mass. Department of Mental Retardation in the New Bedford area. Our mission is to assist persons with developmental disabilities become connected with faith communities in the area, and to assist such faith communities in conducting such a ministry."

Christopher N. Poulos

"I am happy to be teaching at UNCG in the Department of Communication Studies. I would not be here if I had not stumbled upon Will Gravely and his seminar in Religion and the Literature of Walker Percy...Sue, my wife, is thriving as an artist and writer, and our two boys, Eli and Noah are, well, enjoying boyhood (fencing, tennis, baseball, etc.)"

Gail Ford Smith

"I enjoy pastoring a large membership church in suburb of Houston. My oldest daughter lives in Denver and youngest daughter begins college this fall at the Univ. of Arkansas. I have fond memories of my time in the Religion Department at DU, thanks to Dr. Gravely and Dr. Raschke. Because of them, I was well-prepared for seminary."

"I appreciate your efforts to establish this website and look forward to establishing closer contact with the department and alumni. I continue to work in the field of education but have shifted my responsibilities. I now work as a mentor and instructional coach at Heritage High School. I work primarily with new teachers but also work with all teachers regarding instructional pedagogy etc. I would love to hear what other people are doing who were also in the MA program at the time I was. I also enjoy keeping abreast on department news and programs going on at D.U."

Josephine Tze Dou Yang (now Josephine Yang-Patyi)

Current Position: Attorney at Law
"After graduating with an M.T.S. from Harvard Divinity School in 1994, I moved to NYC and worked as a paralegal. I then enrolled in St. John's Univ. School of Law from 1995 - 98. Upon graduation, I married my classmate, Frank J. Patyi (an American born Hungarian from Sleepy Hollow, New York), who is now a tax attorney. I clerked for a U.S. Bankruptcy Judge in White Plains, NY and my husband earned his L.L.M. in Taxation from NYU before we decided to relocate to Upstate New York - for a simpler and better quality of life. In 2000, we settled in a big brick colonial house in the historical preservation area of Syracuse, New York and have been renovating it ever since. We both work as attorneys at law firms in Syracuse. He is a tax attorney at a large firm. I am a bankruptcy attorney doing work all over the country at a boutique firm that specializes in both creditor's and debtor's work. We have a standard poodle, Foo Foo, who goes to doggy day care twice a week. We also have a cat, Seizer."
