Ph.D., University of Notre Dame. Dr Schofield is Assistant Professor of Hebrew Bible and Judaic studies, specializing in the Dead Sea Scrolls. She received a doctorate in the area of Judaism in Antiquity, and her Masters Degree is from the Johns Hopkins University in Near Eastern Studies: Hebrew Bible and Northwest Semitic languages. Dr. Schofield's additional fields of interest include religious and cultural influences of ancient Israel, Egypt and Babylonia and her main research languages include Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, Akkadian, Ugaritic, and Ethiopic.

Her dissertation, "Community and Identity in the Rule of the Community" explores issues of religious identity in the Dead Sea Scrolls and early Jewish sectarianism and is being revised for publication. Dr. Schofield has published articles in the Journal of Biblical Literature, Dead Sea Discoveries, volumes of collected essays, and her current project concerns the wilderness as place and experience in the Bible and early Judaism. Her teaching interests include the Bible as literature, early biblical interpretation, the body and sexuality in religion, and the Jews in the ancient world. In her spare time, she enjoys backpacking, playing guitar, soccer and equestrian sports.
