MEETING TERRORISM’S CHALLENGES
A Forum
The Rocky Mountain Center for Homeland Defense/Security (RMCHD) a component of the Research Institute of the University of Denver, invites ALL members of the community to attend a series of talks designed to inform us about various aspects of terrorism including its potential impact upon our lives and those of our families, our communities, our region and our nation. These talks will be offered approximately one per month, three in the fall and three in the spring, for as long as there is a need. They are FREE and OPEN TO ALL. Each talk is planned for a Tuesday evening, 7-8 p.m., so that it will be easier for you to attend these valuable presentations. Following their talks, the speakers are encouraged to remain behind for a bit and meet with interested individuals.
We strongly believe that terrorism represents a real and ongoing threat to ALL of America. It can endanger our food and water supply, our transportation network, our power sources, our natural resources, our legal system, our families, our jobs, our communities and the many things that keep them functioning, and, in principle, our very existence as a country of individuals enjoying the advantages of a free and open society. The impact of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 continues to be felt around our nation and the world. “Terrorism” is not just a “big city” problem. Our country is a large tapestry of individuals, entities and activities and it is dangerous to assume that “It will not happen here.” or “What happens there does not affect me!” This perspective is reinforced when we think about the effects that Hurricane Katrina will continue to have on our country.
Please let your friends know about this valuable series. Our goal is to help to prepare all of us to deal with the increasing threats to our way of life. We believe that sound reliable information is one way to help us to protect ourselves in this post-September 11, 2001 era. We invite you to join us.
All lectures will be held in:
Boettcher Auditorium, University of Denver
2050 East Iliff Avenue
Denver, Colorado 80210
