The University of Denver School of Engineering and Computer Science's Applied Research & Technology Institute (ARTI) has immediate openings for applied researchers and project managers who have extensive experience in obtaining and conducting sponsored research or fee-for-service projects. Areas of special interest currently at the Institute include ultrasonic and NDE, materials science, sensors and systems engineering, modeling and simulation, computer science, DNA-related chemistry, and space system design and analysis. Researchers with current funding, even in areas other than listed above, can be hired immediately. Salaries and benefits are competitive. Selection criteria are largely based on the ability to secure funded programs for the Institute. The University of Denver has a very favorable patent policy.   • Identify and develop new business opportunities in the above listed areas or other areas of expertise
  • Lay out program and project plans, allocate resources, and manage budget compliance
  • Prepare and present briefings or other presentations to a variety of audiences
  • Supervise preparation of deliverable products required by contract or order
  • Work actively to involve appropriate faculty and graduate students in research programs


  • Master's Degree in Engineering or other Applied Sciences
  • 10 or more years appropriate professional experience, including
  • Having served as Principal Investigator and/or Project Manager (at least 5 years)
  • Having written successful competitive proposals to develop work
  • Having supervised other professionals and technicians for at least 5 years
  • Familiarity with Defense Department, DHS, NASA, and DOE research and development programs and procedures
  • Capable of obtaining personal security clearance
