Welcome to the 2012 IEEE
Symposium on Power Electronics & Machines for Wind Application
The IEEE Power Electronics and Machines in Wind Applications (PEMWA 2012) is hosted by University Denver and National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). This conference is sponsored by three IEEE technical societies: Power Electronics Society—PELS (Sustainable Energy Sources Technical Thrust of the Sustainable Energy Systems Technical Committee), Power and Energy Society (PES), Industrial Application Society (IAS).
This symposium brings together researchers and experts in wind power from industry, academia, national laboratories, and utilities. Latest research and development in wind power electronics, wind power generators, and wind power integration will be presented and discussed by leading wind turbine manufacturers and researchers. Technical topics include: wind power grid connection issues under high penetration, power electronics control of wind turbine induction and permanent magnet generators, power electronics converter topologies and controls for wind turbine systems, and much more.
The symposium will have invited speeches, oral paper presentations, and poster paper presentations. There will also be a limited number of exhibitions and demonstrations, along with an optional technical tour of the wind farm of National Wind Technology Center at NREL.
