Engineering and Computer Science
Message from the Dean
Thank you for visiting the School of Engineering and Computer Science website at the University of Denver. I would like to particularly extend a warm welcome to prospective students, parents, friends and alumni who are looking to gain insight into our unique educational, research, technology transfer, and professional services.
The School of Engineering and Computer Science (SECS) has entered a new, exciting, and challenging era. We are creating a preeminent world-class technology institute known for its pursuit of excellence in academic programs, leading-edge research, and impact on local and global economic development and quality of life.
Integration of Engineering and Computer Science is the foundation for the unique, flexible, and socially responsible undergraduate and graduate programs that SECS offers to a diverse group of students and professionals.
While other institutions have focused on traditional areas of engineering and sciences, we are developing degree programs that directly address societal and technical needs of the 21st Century. Building on the synergy between engineering and computer science, we have developed new undergraduate and graduate degrees in:
- BA/BS in Game Development
- MS in Mechatronics System Engineering
- MS in Bioengineering
We have introduced five-year BS/MS degrees for undergraduate students in the sciences who wish to also obtain a masters degree in engineering or computer science. For example, if enrolled in this program, an undergraduate Biology major can obtain both a BS in Biology and a MS in Bioengineering in five years. Our five-year BS/MBA program is quite popular among students interested in pursing careers in engineering and technology related businesses.
These forward-looking programs join our traditional degrees to guarantee a multi-dimensional and holistic education that prepares our graduates in the emerging areas of science and technology. SECS emphasizes social responsibility and international perspective as we tailor degrees to the needs and interests of our students.
I welcome your involvement in our school and hope that you will continue further interactions with my office and our departments.
Sincerely,
Michael Keables
