Metropolitan Denver offers abundant opportunities to work in community organizations, side-by-side with people who are dedicated to bringing about a better world. By working in collaboration with organizations identified through the Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning, each student in the Social Justice Community will perform a minimum 40 hours of community engagement. These experiences will add extra depth and meaning to the Social Justice courses, and vice versa.

The Social Justice Community is committed to diversity and to bringing more diversity to our own community. Our country houses an enormous range of ethnic, gender, cultural, religious, and economic diversity. To reflect and embrace this diversity, we hope to attract students from all parts of our society, and the world. In past years, we have had students from many different backgrounds join our community. In fact, in the past four years, we have had the pleasure of welcoming a total of 10 Daniels Fund students into our community. We work closely with our Center for Multicultural Excellence to involve students in Diversity Retreats and Trainings and other events that help create a strong and supportive community for our students.
