The University of Denver strives to be a great private university dedicated to the public good.
As the oldest private university in the Rocky Mountain Region, the University of Denver is known internationally for preparing students to blaze trails in government, business, social work, education, healthcare, sports, law, the arts--wherever there's a need for principled leadership, critical assessment and creative thinking.
Our students
Serving more than 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students from all 50 states and more than 80 countries, the University prides itself on its inclusive environment where difference is respected. Our commitment to the public good
Since its founding in 1864, the University of Denver has played a vital role in the cultural, social, economic and educational life of Denver. We work with communities and organizations, both across town and across the globe, to create meaningful change.
Recent examples of our commitment to the community include:
- In 2007, we became the first university to host Denver's Project Homeless Connect. More than 1,000 University of Denver students, employees and alumni volunteered to help the homeless access assistance programs.
- The University of Denver hosted 11 Nobel Peace Prize laureates and 3,000 teenagers from around the world for the 2006 PeaceJam, a celebration aimed at creating the world's next generation of peacemakers.
- The University of Denver is also home to a wide array of research centers and institutes that tackle pressing problems and contribute to the well-being of our city and nation.
Note: Effective January, 2010, the University of Denver became a smoke-free campus.
