Advances and Challenges in Evidence-Based Practice and Social Work Education

November 20, 2009
8:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Craig Hall
Boettcher Foundation Community Room

The Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Denver invites you to attend a forum on recent developments and challenges in evidence-based practice and social work education. Keynote speakers include Dr. Tonya Edmond from Washington University in St. Louis and Dr. Aron Shlonsky from the University of Toronto, internationally-known experts in the field. They will address critical issues and recent developments in evidence-based practice, social work education and social intervention as they apply to academic, agency and policy settings. A luncheon session will feature an address by Colorado Senator Moe Keller, Vice Chair of the Joint Budget Committee. Todd Saliman, Director of the Colorado Office of State Planning and Budgeting, is also scheduled to speak at the luncheon. Two panels of social work educators, policy experts, administrators and practitioners will discuss critical issues in evidence-based practice at local, state, national and international levels.

Sessions at the forum are aimed at helping practitioners and agency administrators incorporate evidence-based practices in existing services and interventions. Drs. Edmond and Shlonsky have led similar efforts in their universities and communities, and we invite you to attend and benefit from their expertise. The luncheon address will provide important information about accomplishments and future directions of evidence-based practice in Colorado.

The registration fee of $20 includes lunch and parking (parking passes will be e-mailed to registrants a few days before the event). CEUs are available upon request.  Online registration is requested by November 13.  After November 13, please contact Stephanie Panion at stephanie.panion@du.edu or 303-871-3464 to inquire about registration options.
