Prof. John Kayser is the lead instructor for the foundation year clinical theories and practice sequence, and he is convener of the Adult and Late Life Challenges Track in the clinical practice concentration. He teaches clinical theory and practice courses throughout the MSW curriculum. His research on the history of social work and GSSW is reflected in biographical and pictorial displays throughout Craig Hall.
"If you had asked me, when I first began teaching, what quality is most important in someone who wants to be a good clinical social worker, I would have said 'empathy.' But now I think it's really more about 'curiosity'--about people, the events in their lives and why they respond to those events in the ways that they do."
