Prof. Colleen Reed is co-director of the Institute of Gerontology. She has conducted research in late life depression, family care-giving, health services utilization and program evaluation.

Prof. Reed is the principal investigator of a three-year research and training project funded by the Colorado Health Foundation focusing on evidence-based practice in settings providing social services to older residents of the state. She also is the principal investigator of PROGRESS, an innovative program partially funded by the John A. Hartford Foundation and aimed at training future leaders in geriatric social work.

Prof. Reed's prior experience includes clinical social work with individuals and families, mental health treatment, and social work care management primarily with Latino families and gay, lesbian and bisexual individuals and families. At GSSW, she teaches a social work skills course, a course on assessment and intervention with older adults, and courses on practice evaluation and research.
