PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY
Professor Cathryn Potter is the executive director of the Erna and Brad Butler Institute for Families, which engages in collaborative research and technical assistance with numerous states, agencies and Native American tribes to support best practices in child welfare, juvenile justice and children's mental health.
The Butler Institute also manages Colorado's child welfare stipend program for MSW students pursuing a career in child welfare.
Potter also serves as the University of Denver’s Associate Provost for Research.
One of the most active researchers at the University of Denver, Potter is currently involved in numerous child welfare and juvenile justice projects. She teaches practice, research and child welfare classes at GSSW.
