Social Work Licensure Preparation

About Cram Sessions

GSSW's Licensure Preparation Cram Sessions are an invaluable resource to individuals preparing for the Social Work Licensing Exam.  For the past six years, there has been a significant pass rate increase for Cram Session attendees.

The course begins with a focus on thinking skills, strategies for test-taking and how to approach the exam questions.  Time is spent reviewing each of the four main knowledge/content areas (1) Human Development, Diversity and Behavior in the Environment, (2) Assessment, Diagnosis and Treatment Planning (3) Psychotherapy, Clinical Interventions and Case Management and (4) Professional Ethics and Values.

After the content review for each section, the class will discuss 10-20 practice questions.  The correct answer and rationale will be explained for each question that is reviewed.  The Cram Session format allows you to identify your strengths and weaknesses in answering questions.  On Saturday afternoon, students will have an opportunity to practice with questions through the ASWB group practice exam.

Each session will take place on Friday night, 5:30 - 8:30 p.m., and the following Saturday, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.  All sessions are held at Craig Hall (signs will guide students to the appropriate room), with the exception of the bi-annual session held in Durango, CO.  Friday night pizza and Saturday snacks are included.  Please come comfortably dressed and ready to work hard!

Registration

Students may register online using a credit card. Space in each session is limited, so we ask that you pick the date you plan to attend. However, if you find that you must attend a later session instead, or if you wish to repeat the Cram Session once or more often during the year, your registration fee entitles you to do so.  In that case, please contact the Program Coordinator (303-871-3615) at least three days prior to the session to make a reservation.
