This MSW certificate program introduces you to the impact of interpersonal trauma on individuals, families, groups and communities. Rather than labeling trauma response as primarily a disorder, you'll learn to view it from a strengths perspective, focused on resiliency and coping. You'll integrate knowledge and practice skills relevant to response and recovery from physical, psychological, social, historical and vicarious or secondary trauma. You'll also understand the role that culture can play in trauma response and recovery.
This program adds two specialized courses to the regular MSW curriculum, along with a field internship in a trauma-related setting.
