Concentration year students in clinical practice can choose this track to focus on developmental processes and challenges frequently encountered during the adult years. These include mental health, drug dependence, health and aging. If you have an interest in gerontology, you can select courses within this track to focus on issues related to older adults.

If you select this track, you'll take:

  • an overview course on adulthood and late life,
  • a course on assessment of mental health and drug use in adults
  • a required course on social work with groups
  • a choice of policy courses covering either mental health and substance abuse or health and aging,
  • 4 elective courses
  • 2 practice evaluation research courses

You'll also complete a field internship focused on serving adults. This might be an adult mental health setting, a drug prevention and intervention program, a health or medical setting, or a service program for seniors.
