GSSW Evidence Based Practice Forum

The Graduate School of Social Work hosted a forum on Advances and Challenges in Evidence-Based Practice and Social Work Education on Friday, November 20, 2009.  Keynote speakers included Dr. Tonya Edmond from Washington University in St. Louis and Dr. Aron Shlonsky from the University of Toronto, internationally-known experts in the field. They addressed critical issues and recent developments in evidence-based practice, social work education and social intervention as they apply to academic, agency and policy settings. A luncheon session featured an address by Colorado Senator Moe Keller, Vice Chair of the Joint Budget Committee. Todd Saliman, Director of the Colorado Office of State Planning and Budgeting, also spoke at the luncheon. Two panels of social work educators, policy experts, administrators and practitioners discussed critical issues in evidence-based practice at local, state, national and international levels.
