"I see our doctoral program as an intellectual and moral set of obligations that involve students and faculty who are attentive, active, and accountable," says Prof. Walter LaMendola, director of the doctoral program.
"Our doctoral program is highly selective," Prof. LaMendola continues. "In turn, our students receive personal mentoring and share stewardship of the program with us."

"I recognize the need for students to learn a skeptical, yet respectful, approach to traditional social work scholarship and practices. But our program is committed to the future of social work knowledge-generation and sharing. It deals with the human situation in a global society--with the need to meaningfully reconnect our academic scholarship, social work practices and social life with one another."
