Awards

Three honorary awards are given by the Sociology Department each year:

The Wilbert E. Moore Award for Outstanding Scholarship
This award is given to the student, undergraduate or graduate, who has exemplified excellent scholarship through an article, paper, or presentation. 


The William H. Key Award for Outstanding Work in Applied Sociology
The Key Award is given to the student who excels in the internship or practicum research.


The OMNI Award for Sociological Contribution in the Area of Public Policy
Given by OMNI Research and Training, Inc., this award is presented to a Sociology student who has demonstrated outstanding work in the area of Public Policy.


Department faculty select the winners of these awards each February/March.  The Awards are officially presented to recipients at the All-University Awards Ceremony held yearly in May.  Each award includes a certificate and a check for $100.
