Description: This course will enable students to use managerial theories and practices in a way that actively leads towards "balanced living" and "holistic health". Students will engage in a comprehensive and experiential exploration of the definition of “stress”and how it manifests itself in one’s life. Each student will take a personal look into their own lives and see when, where and how stress affects them. From this self-exploration, this course will teach the latest cutting edge skills, strategies and techniques to handle stress. The methods are holistic in nature and address the whole person (mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually). Through readings, lectures and experiential opportunities, each student will interpret, create, and develop their own personal stress management and lifestyle program. In addition, a series of guest speakers and instructors will share their knowledge about stress management techniques, as well as their experiences in the business world. Students are expected to read a significant amount of material in management and stress management in preparation for the experiential portion of the course.
The course will take place at a luxury rental home in Snowmass, Colorado, that features breathtaking views. Stress management techniques include Zen, yoga, tai chi, meditation, visualization, journaling, and guided imagery. Each afternoon students will participate in optional unique stress management adventures. These optional activities range from nature hikes, mountain biking, fly fishing in the famous Frying Pan River, and rafting.
