Asian Art & the Museum

Description: This course is an introduction to the art and architecture of Asia, including but not limited to India, China, Korea, and Japan. The course evaluates the continuities of style and content between cultures, as well as describes the distinct stylistic elements of each culture studied. Religious, political, and social histories will all be addressed in addition to the stylistic analyses in order to better contextualize the art of Asia. This course also examinse Asian art in the museum context.
Info: This course will take place in part at the Denver Art Museum. Students are responsible for the cost of museum entrance fees (approximately $45), as well as transportation to and from the Denver Art Museum.
