|Dates:||November 23 - December 21, 2016|
|*This is an online course|
Description: This course takes a critical approach to horror films in the 2000s to explore what might constitute feminist horror. Drawing on some foundational approaches to gender and horror films, we will critically analyze films that have been constructed as feminist to explore the possibilities or potentials of feminist horror. We will examine themes such as monstrous bodies, horror in the film, and (post)feminist nightmares. In the end, we will work together to determine, if we believe there is the possibly for feminist horror within such a traditionally masculinist genre as horror films.
This course will include aspects of horror films that may contain strong language, violence, nudity, and sexual content. If you are offended by any of these you should not enroll in this course. Your enrollment and participation in the course demonstrates your understanding, endorsement, and complicity with this statement.
