This course will include a general overview of films from francophone Africa, taking examples from across six decades and eight different countries. By studying these films, We will engage with themes related to identity construction as it pertains to the francophone world, paying particular attention to the roles played by the slave trade, colonial conquest, postcolonial migrations, and different forms of neo-colonialism that continue to influence the African continent.
