The meeting was called to order at 12:00pm.

  • The November minutes were updated to include Ethan Crawford.
  • Guests included Cindi Nagai from Athletics.

If a department is interested in attending a DU athletic event they may often do so at a discounted group rate, we can also look into rooms available for meeting space which must be catered by Sodexho.

  • The Treasurer’s report indicates a balance of $9,409.26 and we are expecting a $30.00 Cartridges for Kids check shortly.
  • Departmental announcements: Nicky announced there will be a Faculty and Staff appreciation game at DU on 1/8/09.
  • Departmental Announcements: Karl indicated the Office of Sponsored Programs has a new website to look at. Check out “Pete’s List” on the Sustainability site where you can trade used items instead of buying new ones.
  • RJ said that Book Buffs closed and donated about 4500 books to schools; DU received rare and valued small print books, poetry books and artist books.
  • Kathy is looking into the option of recycling batteries and possible cell phones as well.

Old business:

  • We are voting on the tobacco free issue as individuals and on paper based on a decision made by the executive committee. We are also asking Katie Dunker to send an individual survey out campus wide. In addition to a petition in support of the issue we would like to see a petition in non support as well.
  • Coat Drive update: A meeting is pending for next week, Nicky make posters for the bins and we have 8 student groups participation so far. Karl will email news media to spread the word as well. University Methodist Church has agreed to help.

Voluntary Layoffs:

Will HR counsel employees regarding pending layoffs? Yes, one on one sessions are available and additionally employees are invited to take advantage of the 5 free counseling sessions at the HCC.

Will Career Services help update resumes? This is still unconfirmed.

DU email accounts will only be active for a few weeks after an employee leaves DU under the severance package.

The lump sum payment will be taxed at 25% including your vacation value as well.

7 Days after the paperwork is in you get your money and Separation Rights paperwork.

In one year plus one day you are eligible to return to DU as an employee.

Ecopasses must be returned to the Transportation Center.

Meeting was adjourned.

The next meeting will be 1/14/09 in the DuPont room in MRB.
