May 2013 In this update:
Important Dates June 1 – We will begin posting your work-study jobs on the student employment website. Please update all job descriptions with 2013-14 dates and ensure the proper contact information is listed. You must put the job in "Listed" mode for us to approve. If you move the job from "Review" to "Storage" it will clear out all the applications currently attached to the job, without losing any other information. Thursday, June 5, 2014 is the last students will be eligible to work. June 6 – Last day students can work using their 2012-13 work-study awards. June 15 – Departments can start hiring students for 2013-14. The Online Hiring Request must be completed for all students on webCentral. After logging in, go to the "Employee" tab and click on "Work Award Hire." You will need the student's ID #, home organization #, timesheet organization #, and your complete job description copied from the Student Employment website. July 1 – If a student has received a work award for 2013-14 and is registered for fall quarter, they may begin working as early as July 1, 2013, provided they are enrolled in classes for the fall quarter. If an incoming student would like to begin working over the summer, and the student does not attend DU in the fall, the department will assume responsibility for all earnings. Monitoring Earnings - Banner Screen RJRDPPR As we approach the end of the year, I wanted to make sure all supervisors are aware of Banner report RJRDPPR. This report will show total Work-study award amounts and the remaining balances for your students since the last pay date. To print out the report:
It is your responsibility to monitor work-study earnings to ensure that the student does not earn more than their award. In such an event, your department is responsible for paying the overage out of your operating budget. Work-Study Supervisor Trainings We have held two trainings so far, and have two more trainings scheduled: You can sign up on the webCentral Training site: go to the Employee Tab, on bottom-right side there is a link for Trainings – click on Banner applications, then Banner Financial Aid Work Award Training. Lunch and Learn Sessions We are excited to partner with Human Resources to offer more Lunch and Learn sessions on topics our supervisors have expressed an interest in. Here are some “save the date” sessions we will be offering. More information will be sent when registration is available.
If you have any questions about the work-study program, please feel free to contact our office. Thanks! Lori Orzech Vicky Gillen |
