Student Frequently Asked Questions

What is Work-Study?
Work-Study is a need-based financial aid award that allows undergraduate and graduate students to work on-campus (or with an approved off-campus employer) to earn money to pay for college expenses. It is not a grant (you must work to earn it), and it is not a loan (you don’t have to repay it). Students with Work-Study will have it as part of their financial aid package.
I'm not sure if I have Work-Study. How can I find out?
To find out if you have Work-Study, you will need to log into WebCentral. Click on the "Student" tab, and then click on "Financial Aid Awards" on the right side of the page. Select the "2009-2010 Aid Year" from the drop-down box and click "Submit." Scroll down to see your financial aid package. If Work-Study is not listed, then you are not eligible to apply for the on-campus Work-Study positions listed on the Student Employment website.
I do not have Work-Study. How can I get it?
Work-Study funding is extremely limited. If you are interested in receiving Work-Study for the 2009-2010 academic year and it was not a part of your financial aid package, please contact us.
I do not have Work-Study. Are there any jobs available on-campus for me?
All on-campus positions that do not require Work-Study are managed by Human Resources and are posted at www.dujobs.org. Click "Search Postings" at the top left of the page to view current openings.
I'm an International student. What are my employment options?
International students are not eligible for Work-Study, and most student visas do not allow these students to work off-campus. You may, however, find a job on campus that does not require Work-Study by visiting www.dujobs.org.
Who can I talk to about off-campus positions?
Off-campus positions are managed by Jessica DeBrito, our Job Location and Development Coordinator. She can be reached at 303-871-6795 or at jessica.debrito@du.edu.
My new employer needs to verify that I was previously employed by the University of Denver. Who do I talk to about that?
All employment verification, including verification for Work-Study positions, are handled by Human Resources. Please contact them at 303-871-7420.
I need a copy of my W-2/I never received a copy of my W-2. Where do I get it?
Contact the Payroll office at 303-871-3754 or stop by Mary Reed Room 107-A.
How do I get my paycheck if I do not have direct deposit?
Students who do not have direct deposit will have their paycheck mailed out to them on payday. As of July 1, 2009, students are no longer able to pick up their paychecks from the Payroll office.
How do I sign up for direct deposit?
Students may sign up for direct deposit quickly and easily through their webCentral account.
