Q.
What information should I have about Discoveries 2008?
A. After you
have sent in your Admission deposit you will receive various
mailings from DU. You should have received or will receive:
- Information
about registering for your first course at DU. This will be a
University of Denver First Year Seminar course and you will receive
printed material on this late in May. You may access all of this
information on-line at www.du.edu/studentlife/fys.
- A USB flash drive
from Admission titled “The Journey Begins . . . “ which
contains information about Discoveries, parking, living in the
residence halls and other helpful information. This will be mailed
in May. Please call 800.525.9495 (toll free in US & Canada)
or 303.871.2036 if you have paid your deposit and do not have
your USB Flash by June 15, 2008.
- A CD titled A Reader for Dialogues at DU. This CD will be mailed
out to students early July 2008. Please note, if you are an international student,
you will receive the CD when you arrive on campus for International Student
Orientation.
- A Family Handbook and Calendar with information for your family and parents. This includes
information about Parent/Family Orientation and other helpful information about
DU. This information will be mailed late in May.

Q. When will
I register for classes, and how will I know what to sign up for?
A. Incoming
students will register for classes on Thursday, September 4 and
Friday, September 5 during Discoveries. Faculty members from
various departments and academic advisors will be available to
assist you in the registration process and to be sure you pick
the right classes for your major.

Q: What do
I do in my Discoveries group?
A: There are
85 different orientation groups. Within your particular orientation
group you will attend such sessions as, Dialogues, Major Advising,
Advising with your faculty mentor, Laptop Configuration, and
Registration for fall courses as well as group time to get to
know your fellow classmates. All of these events will help you
adjust to college life.

Q: When do
I buy my books?
A: After you
register you will know your courses, then you can go to the bookstore
where books are located, or other various vendors around town
or online.

my first Discoveries group meeting?
A: Each group
meets for the first time Monday, September 1. Refer to your
specific schedule for all other meeting times.
