Winter 2008 Transfer Orientation Click Here
WELCOME
TO THE UNIVERSITY OF DENVER!
All
students attending the University of Denver must attend an orientation
session. Fall Orientation begins Monday, September 3, 2007.

As a transfer student, you have options for
new student orientation. We have designed two different options to
meet the
varied needs of students who have experience in other academic
settings. Students are often concerned about registration for
courses and which orientation will allow the best opportunity
for course registration – they are all the same – neither
option is going to give anyone an advantage for course registration.
Students will
meet in groups of 15-20 with an academic advisor and an orientation
leader. Your orientation leader is a current student who once
was new to DU as a transfer student – they are available
to help answer your questions and share helpful hints. Over the
course of three days you will receive academic advising prior
to registration, learn about campus resources, hear from departmental
faculty, meet other transfer students in your group, register
for your fall quarter courses and configure your laptop. The
orientation also includes free social activities in the Denver
area including dinner on the town and a meeting other transfer
students while taking in a Colorado Rockies baseball game.

One
Day Session Monday, August 20, 2007 8:30 a.m. – 5:30
p.m.
This option is recommended if you are from the Denver area or
plan to be in the area prior to September 4. This is a quick moving
one-day session that focuses on what you need to know and registering
for fall classes. The one-day program has less social interaction
and less one on one academic advising than the multiple day session.
Spend the day getting oriented to life at the University of Denver,
hearing from offices with resources for students, configuring your
laptop, learning how to utilize technology at DU and working with
academic advisors and faculty as you register for fall courses.
Plan to visit www.du.edu/discoveries to see updated information
regarding the schedule, parking information and location of events.
Transfer
Discoveries Tuesday, September 4 – Friday, September
7, 2007
This option
is recommended if you are from out of state, living on-campus
or wish to meet and interact with other transfer students
and receive more in-depth information about academic advising,
transfer student resources and work closely
with an academic advisor.
