University of Denver Career Center Statement on Network Marketing Organizations
The University of Denver Career Center does not consider Network Marketing Organizations "employers". The services provided to Network Marketing Organizations are limited to the following:
- We will refer Network Marketing Organizations to the office of Conference, Meeting and Event Services should the Organization wish to reserve a display table in the Driscoll University Student Center.
The University of Denver Career Center considers organizations that engage in the following to be Network Marketing Organizations:
- Sponsoring an individual to set up his or her own business for the purpose of selling product or services and/or recruiting other individuals to set up his or her own business.
- Requiring initial cash or capital investment, account balance or similar fiscal requirements from this individual with the organization itself serving as an umbrella or parent company. The initial investment may include but is not limited to such things as the purchase of a starter kit, payment to attend an orientation or training session and direct payment of a fixed fee.
- Compensation from others under his or her sponsorship in the organization and/or a percentage of sales generated by others.
